Panic! At the Disco to Headline Marcus Amphitheater During Summerfest
May 18th, 2007Summerfest officials today announce Panic! At the Disco will headline the Marcus Amphitheater on Saturday, July 7, during this year’s 40th Anniversary celebration. The 7:00 pm show’s lineup will also include Gym Class Heroes, The Academy Is… and The Hush Sound.
During an overwhelmingly successful performance at the U.S. Cellular Connection Stage at Summerfest 2006, Panic! At the Disco wowed the crowd with their circus-like theatrics and rich mix of sounds. The Las Vegas band enjoyed immense success with their platinum album “A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out,” and their debut single “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” was the MTV video of the year in 2006.
Best known for their recent hit “Cupid’s Chokehold,” Gym Class Heroes are hip-hop artists who separate themselves by incorporating elements of modern pop and vocal harmonies into their songs. The Chicago-based punk-pop band The Academy Is… recently released their sophomore album “Santi” in April, which produced the hit single “We’ve Got a Big Mess on Our Hands.” Since emerging on the pop-rock scene in 2005, fellow Chicagoans The Hush Sound quickly released two full-length albums and differentiated themselves with catchy, imagery-laden lyrics and a haunting, dream-like sound.
