There have been several instances of late in which bands have crowdsourced fan footage for music videos, but recently, Panic at the Disco tapped into a brand new video-sharing app to put location-specific images to the lyrics of their single, “Ready to Go.”

“Instagram for video” Viddy launched in May, allowing users to create short, stylized videos and share them with their social networks. Soon after launch, Panic at the Disco teamed up with the app, asking fans to download it and shoot video of the band playing on tour, as well as creative representations depicting what it’s like to attend a show.

Right now, the band is cutting together all video submissions from their 23-city tour, with the video slated to drop this week. Yes, the band could have easily enlisted a cameraman to follow them around, capturing their tour for posterity, but instead they tapped the audience (each of whom has a camera in his or her pocket, anyway) to tell their own stories, creating a much more personalized, multi-faceted look at the live show experience.

Keltie Colleen — Ryan Ross’ former girlfriend — recently interviewed Craig Hollamon and Lindsey Blaufarb, the choreographers for “Ready to Go” and “The Overture”.

KC: How did you come to do the choreography on “Ready to Go”?

C+L: Their Management contacted us because we have worked with some of the other Crush artists before. We love Crush management they are awesome!

I know that Brendon Urie is one of those guys who can do anything, he can sing, play all kind of instruments, really good at sports — but what was it like teaching him to dance?

C+L: It was so much fun setting our choreography on him because he just dives in and is 100% committed from step one. He is such a pleasure to work with because he is so dedicated, focused and hard working. We had a blast! Read the full article »
