There’s been a rumor Pete Wentz’s new band, Black Cards, would open for Panic! At The Disco in the Fall. In a recent interview to PropertyofZack.com Pete Wentz denies the report.
Rumors have also been flying about a Panic! At The Disco, Neon Trees, and Black Cards tour. Can you confirm that as well?
I don’t know how this became a tour. Maybe Panic! invited us to the tour, I’m not sure. I only know about one show in New York City in Central Park on September 1st. If Panic! is going on tour and they want to bring us, that’d be awesome. We’d definitely like to tour with Neon Trees too.
After appearing at Radio 1’s Big Weekend tomorrow, Panic! At The Disco will be coming to Portsmouth the next evening. They are billed to appear on the In New Music We Trust Stage at the free festival in Carlisle, before hot-footing it down to the other end of the country to grace the stage of the Pyramids on Southsea seafront.
The baroque-pop pioneers also recently confirmed the release of their second single from their third album. Ready To Go (Get Me Out Of My Mind) will be released on 6 June.
Third album, Vices and Virtues was released last month and bridges the gap between the energetic pop anthems of their debut A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out and the psychedelic leanings of sophomore release Pretty.Odd.
‘It’s always been important for us not to copy what we’ve done in the past,’ says singer Brendan Urie. ‘The songs on Vices & Virtues are very stylistically diverse and that happened naturally. There are songs that have a jazz feel and then rock songs with strings and hyper-energetic moments, too. It’s really all over the place.’
It was the Las Vegas-based Grammy-nominated act’s first album as a twosome, but – despite being reduced from a quartet to a duo – they are still renowned for energetic shows with massive sing-a-longs and Brendon Urie’s powerful vocals.
Sunday’s sold out Southsea show was postponed from the end of April and tickets remain valid.

In support of their new album Vices & Virtues, Panic! at the Disco will hit the road on tour this spring with New York indie pop outfit fun., featuring members of the Format, Anathallo, and Steel Train, on opening duties. To celebrate, the two bands teamed up for a new single, “C’mon,” which SPIN is exclusively premiering before it hits iTunes on May 17.
The duet combines the orchestral drama of Panic! with the pop smarts of fun., as the bands’ frontmen Brendon Urie and Nate Ruess, respectively, croon about the redeeming powers of love over piano, strings, and a big rising melody.
“With everything falling down around me / I’d like to believe in all the possibilities,” sings Urie. “Don’t leave me to sleep all alone / Let’s stay lost on our way home,” responds Ruess.
“We went into the session not really knowing much about the Panic! guys,” Ruess tells SPIN. “But we came out, not only with what I think is a really good song, but with a couple of really great friends that we have a huge amount of respect and admiration for.”
