A song titled “Post to London” was recently registered to the ASCAP (The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) database listing Brendon as a co-writer along with John Feldmann — the lead singer/guitarist of Goldfinger. So far it has not been associated to any performer. Thanks to Pat for the heads up!

When Ryan Ross and Jon Walker broke away from Panic! at the Disco last summer they quickly formed The Young Veins, a throw back rock band that wasted no time putting a line-up together and completing their debut album Take a Vacation!. I got to talk with singer/guitarist Ryan Ross, bass player Andy Soukal, and drummer Nick Murray before their sold out Chicago show at the Beat Kitchen about the Panic! rumors, their new album, a summer tour around Bonnaroo and much more.
“It really feels like we are up there trying to win people over, it is challenging” Ryan Ross stated about starting over with his new band The Young Veins. When Ryan Ross and Jon Walker walked away from their popular band Panic! at the Disco, they also thought former members Brendon Urie and Spencer Smith were walking away from the name as well. “I didn’t think that they would keep the name” Ryan explained, “It was a little bit shocking when I heard about them doing these tours and stuff without us. I figured doing your own thing meant doing your own thing.”
After breaking away from Panic! Ryan Ross received a lot of backlash from fans, which is something that surprised him. “It was already bad enough without that having to happen too,” Ryan explains, “I guess when people don’t understand the reasons why it’s easy to get mad at the person you don’t know for something you think they did. It’s weird how some of the fans took it personally. I wish they would understand this is our life and we have to do what is best for us.” The storm is passing and over time fans have come to realize the band really did part ways because of creative differences. “Some people are coming around and saying, maybe it wasn’t the smartest train of thought I was on a couple of months ago. I don’t know, I mean obviously if I was a young kid, a teenager and my favorite band broke up I would be a little bit upset too” Ryan said. Read the full article »
