It takes about one minute to walk from the Palms’ casino floor to its recording studio. Yet, tourists and locals never know that just a few walls separate them from the secretive Studio at the Palms, where Alicia Keys, Dave Matthews and a steady stream of stars write new music, day and night.

The Studio is such a hidden place that, over the course of a few years, even Michael Jackson recorded two sessions at the hectic Palms, for weeks at a stretch, clandestinely.

[...] Many musicians now record on home studios, or they stick with their hometown studios in New York, L.A. and Nashville. But since opening in 2005, the Studio has snared Timbaland, LL Cool J, Gym Class Heroes, Journey, Death Cab for Cutie, Regina Spektor, Gavin Rossdale, Mary J. Blige, Will.I.Am, Elton John, Britney Spears, Tony Bennett, Diddy, Chevelle, Ciara, Ludacris, the Killers, and on and on. Read the full article »

Invisible Children came in first place at Chase Community Giving and will receive $1 million from Chase. A few days ago Brendon tweeted showing his support and asking fans to vote for the organization, which was up against 99 other charities and in second place at the time.

Invisible Children is a non-profit organization that began as a documentary exposing the abduction of children and their use as weapons and troops in Africa’s longest running war. $100,000 from the winnings will be donated towards the earthquake relief in Haiti.

Just letting you know that I added two new features to our sidebar. A search engine, which is pretty self-explanatory. And a tags list so you can search by the category the news was posted in, font sizes vary due to the popularity of the tag — pictures and Brendon’s twitter are the most used, so they’re larger than the rest. I hope that will make it easier to find what you’re looking for.

During breaks in a touring schedule with blink-182 and Fallout Boy, Panic! At The Disco has been hard at work on its much-anticipated third studio album, which will follow 2008’s chart-topping “Pretty. Odd.” Retreating to Malibu for pre-production and tracking, the band has given itself an interesting task.

The goal was to record an album using the comfort and efficiency of all the digital gizmos that make a modern recording studio modern, but with the unmistakable character and authenticity of a classic 1960s recording. Read the full article »

#1 – Everyone please go on facebook to facebook.com/ChaseCommunityGiving and vote for Invisible Children. Chase bank is giving 1 million dollars to the charity with the most votes. If they win Invisible Children will donate 100,000 dollars of the money to the relief fund in Haiti, and the rest of the money will go towards stopping the abduction of children and child soldiering in Uganda and the Congo! Thanks! — 6:32PM from Tweetie
