From The Academy Is… Buzznet journal

Last night we played the only club show on the HCT at the Pearl in Las Vegas. Unfortuantely +44 was unable to play due to personal reasons, however our good friends in Panic! at the Disco were able to fill in and play a few acoustic songs as well as a cover of Whats My Age Again? with Mark Hoppus. It was good to see those guys… it took me back to the Truckstops and Statelines Tour… good times..

Ex loves and future deserters: writing from some hotel room deep in seattle. Its amazing when friendship means more than magazines and money. The guys in panic showed up at our show in vegas after plus44 was forced to cancel due to family emergency. They played acoustic, as well as playing a blink song with mark. We got video of it all that should be surfacing on the internet soon. For the rest of the night it was us versus las vegas. Though the odds were bad. Things were great until the bowling began. Hopefully that video gets destroyed. Patrick has been working really hard on new songs and the new cobra record. He is a mad scientist and I love it.

[...] to fill the empty slot in the show, ryan and brendon from panique a la discotech were called to come out and play a few songs acoustically. we were all hanging out backstage talking beforehand, and i mentioned that i heard panic at the disco had started off as a blink-182 cover band back in the day. somehow we hit on the idea of getting together and playing a blink song. we rehearsed what’s my age again a couple of times in a dressing room and then played it during the show. the guys were really cool and it was super fun playing the song. it’s a little strange to meet a couple of guys and within two hours be playing in front of a couple thousand people with them. but hey, that’s what we do: bring the awesome every single day, in every single way.

Brendon as Ryan made a special appearance at the Honda Civic Tour last night in Las Vegas. They replaced +44 as one of the opening acts and performed an acoustic set including: The Only Difference, Lying Is the Most Fun, But It’s Better If You Do, and I Write Sins Not Tragedies. After the last song, Mark Hoppus – from Blink 182/+44 – came out and covered “What’s My Age Again?” with them. Later on during Fall Out Boy’s set, Ryan came out once again and played his guitar solo during “The Takeover, The Breaks Over”.
